Acoustic Bass

Michael Ryle started out playing R&B on the road but eventually he abandoned the bass guitar for the acoustic bass. After less than a year of study with Edgar Meyer and at the University of Tennessee he was invited to join Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and to perform with Rudolf Nureyev and the Boston Ballet at the World’s Fair. For a number of years he continued to pursue music while working as a software engineer in Connecticut, performing in jazz bands led by Jerry Coker and Bill Finegan and small groups in and around New York City. After moving to Cape Cod in 1998 he joined the Cape Symphony and has performed at every major jazz venue in the area. He left the Cape Symphony to focus more on creative music and to pursue arranging and composing.
